Dr. Daniel Fitzsimmons, DVM, MS, PhD, originally from the northern shores of Lake Gitchi Gummi, followed a unique path to veterinary medicine. He earned bachelor’s degrees in Biology and Teaching from the University of Minnesota before teaching secondary science, working for the United States Geological Survey, and later pursuing advanced research. Dr. Dan completed a Master’s in Plant Molecular Biology and his DVM at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, as well as a PhD and postdoctoral fellowship in Immunology and Microbiology at the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center. He also completed postdoctoral research at the University of Minnesota Cancer Center and the USDA in Ames, Iowa.
Dr. Dan is certified in spinal manipulation therapy, canine rehabilitation, and medical acupuncture. Now based in Santa Fe, he focuses on small animal care with special interests in dentistry, surgery, lameness, rehabilitation, and wellness.If asked, he does miss the rivers and lakes of Northern Minnesota, but so enjoys the blue skies, spectacular sunsets, high desert hiking, mountain biking and mosquito-free outside dining with his newest pack of Labradors.
Dr. Jennifer Garcia is originally from Albuquerque, NM. After graduatingfrom the University of New Mexico, she wanted to explore the Pacific Northwest for veterinary school. She earned her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine at Washington State University in 2015.Dr. Garcia is a USDA accredited veterinarian, a member of the American Animal Hospital Association and a board member of the New Mexico Veterinary Medical Association. She has been practicing in Santa Fe since 2015.When not working, Jennifer likes baking, camping, and spending time with her family. Jennifer lives in Eldorado with her husband, young son and their three pets: Reese, an orange tabby, Roo, adachshund mix and Roxy, a terrier mix
